Raise funds for the Phare Kindergarten Program

Who are we?

Phare Ponleu Selpak (PPSA) or “The Brightness of the Arts” is a non-profit Cambodian association providing a nurturing and creative environment where young people can access free quality arts training, education and social support, while restoring the lost culture and identity of Cambodia.

What is Angkor Wat Half-Marathon?

Runners from all over the world participate to support a ban on the manufacture and inhumane use of antipersonnel mines. Entry fees and additional financial support foster independence among landmine victims by helping provide prosthetic limbs, social reintegration programs, and supporting other relevant and needed programs such as education and prevention of HIV / AIDS. Another part of charity also goes to the support Children hospitals in Cambodia Such as Angkor Children Hospital and Kantha Bopha Children Hospital.

What are we Fundraising for?

100% of the money raised for this event will go directly to support Phare Ponleu Selpak’s Kindergarten Program. The Kindergarten had humble beginnings as a day-care leisure center for the younger siblings of our students. The day-care facilities were started to allow students to attend public school and artistic classes instead of having to stay at home to care of their younger siblings.  As the need grew, the day-care center evolved into a full Kindergarten program catering to almost 250 children between the ages of 3 and 6. The program, which is entirely free of cost, strives to provide programming in line with international standards, unlike any public school kindergartens in Cambodia. We need USD 35,000 per year to support the direct costs of the Kindergarten. We hope to raise that amount from the International Angkor Wat Half Marathon.

Who from Phare is Running?

This year about 30 students and 30 team members from Phare are keen on participating in the Angkor Wat Half Marathon (or 10km, or 3km). They will use the event to reach their own fundraising targets. If you are not able to run, please consider supporting one the many Phare students and team members running reach their fundraising goals by giving to their crowdfunding campaign.
